Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to apply data for the improvement of free Poomsae technique by analyzing the difference in muscle activity, posture balance ability, and lower extremity function from a comparison group after applying a complex exercise program accompanied by strength training for 8 weeks to free Poomsae athletes in Taekwondo.

Method: The study participants were randomly assigned to 15 experimental groups and 15 control groups of 30 Taekwondo free Poomsae players. At week 0, week 8, muscle activity test(EMG), posture balance test(Tetrax), and lower extremity function(8-Hoping test) was performed twice. A two-way repeated measure ANOVA was performed to examine the differences between the two groups and the variables that appeared before and after eight weeks.

Results: As a result of comparing the difference between the groups before and after in the EMG results, there was a significant difference in the left medial gastrocnemius muscle(p<.05). As a result of comparing the differences between the groups before and after in the Tetax results, both groups showed significant differences(p<.05). The 8-Hoping test result showed a significant difference between the two groups(p<.05).

Conclusion: For free Poomsae athletes, it is considered that a complex exercise program with strength training is not a simple Taekwondo skill exercise program, but a more effective way to improve skills.
